Gastprofessur an der UN University of Peace Costa Rica, Oktober-November 2018
Im Oktober-November 2018 hatte ich die grosse Ehre wieder als Gastprofessorin an der University of Peace in dem “Department of Conflict and Peace Studies” in dem MA Programm “Gender and Peacebuilding” zu unterrichten.
Das Politische ist international!
Das Spannende an dem Unterrichten an der UN University of Peace ist für mich, dass die Studen*innen und ihre Erfahrungen internationaler nicht sein könnten: Student*innen kamen auch dieses Jahr aus der ganzen Welt – von Canada, Japan, über Indien, Australien, Europa, Lateinamerika und den Philippen und den USA waren ganz verschiedene Regionen und Kulturen im Klassenraum vertreten.

Die täglichen und arbeitsintensiven Vorlesungen und Seminare drehten sich rund um Fragen von nachhaltiger Entwicklung und Umweltschutzes aus gender-spezifischer Perspektive und vor allem um die 17 UN Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung.

Das Persönliche ist politisch!
Vorlesungen und Diskussionsbeiträge rund um Fragen von Klimawandel, Landraub, Freihandelsabkommen, Menschenhandel, Menschenrechte, Gewaltkonflikte, Armut und psychischer Gesundheit wurden an konkreten Praxisbeispielen aus dem globalen Süden und Norden illustriert. Nicht nur ich, sondern auch viele Stundent*innen liessen in ihre Präsentationen ihre ganz persönlichen und praktischen Erfahrungen zu den einzelnen Themen einfliessen.
“Prof. Cordula’s course enriched my understanding on how capitalism and patriarchy are so intertwined in different aspects of the society- economic policies, employment, education, media, etc. that traps women and non-binary individuals in a marginalized and exploited position because of gender inequalities. Coming from a “developing country“, I really appreciate that our standpoints were in class discussions: Case studies were analyzed from an intersectional feminist lens to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of the issue and possible interventions. Das Politische ist international und immer auch persönlich …
So ergaben sich spannende Diskussionen, die zum Teil auch zeigten wie herausfordernd es sein kann, unterschiedliche Meinungen und Differenzen anzuerkennen und diese auszuhalten und aus ihnen zu lernen, um so die eigene Perspektive zu schärfen oder zu hinterfragen.
